Benefits of a Firewood Rack

The viability of your firewood all relies heavily on where you store it. The ground is not the ideal place for you to store your wood. A firewood rack will bring to you many more benefits instead.

When seasoning wood with a firewood rack, your wood will have enough air circulating through it. Your firewood rack will be portable and you will be able to pick your choice location for storing your wood. You will also not be faced with an infestation from various vermin.

Drying wood out slowly over time is called seasoning and it is best done in a firewood rack. It will give you advantages like less smoke when burning it in the house and more heat at the same time than unseasoned wood. The weight of the wood will also be greatly decreased and the wood will last in storage longer than usual.

The main problem with storing your wood on the ground is that the wood will get no aeration. It will also begin to slowly absorb any moisture from the ground.

Vermin like mice and snakes will also begin to infest your home if you store wood on the ground instead of on a firewood rack. If the wood is very fresh you will begin to face problems from termites and other insects.

The ideal place to have your wood away from your major structures is 20-25 feet away. A portable firewood rack will solve this and still make it easy for you to transport your wood when you need it.

The firewood has to remain at quite a distance because should it be infected by termites, they can spread to your major structures.

Benefits like air circulation for your wood, protection from mice and insects and portability make the firewood rack a proper investment.
