There are many ways to build a firewood rack. I am going to tell you about what may be the easiest ways there are to make a free standing firewood rack. It’s not only easy but it’s cheap sturdy and versatile.
You can search the internet and find all kinda plans to build a rack. This one is so simple that you don’t even need plans other than knowing what size you want it to be. All you need is a pair of rack brackets, a few pieces of 2×4 lumber and you could add nails and screws but they are not necessary. I recommend them though
You simply cut the 2×4′s to the right length which will determine the size of your rack. Insert the cut 2×4′s into the bracket slots which are just the right size for a 2/4. That’s it you are done. That’s all it takes to build a sturdy and inexpensive firewood rack.
With the way the brackets are designed the weight of the rack will hold itself together, especially when it’s loaded with wood. But you may want to put in a few nails or screws into the pre drilled holes in the brackets to hold it all together.
These racks will hold your wood off the ground to help it stay dry and the stable side supports will help make a stable stack. You could even build a cover onto the top to keep the rain off your wood. There are cheaper ways to attach 2×4′s together but nothing that I know of that is this easy and strong.
