Mini Blender Overview – The Immersion Blender

Immersion blenders are a specific type of mini blender that are most often used for hot and relatively liquid blending tasks. Immersion blenders offer a clean, quick, and convenient way to blend many different types of food, without dirtying extra dishes. Some foods are perfect for this tool, while others work well in different mini blender styles, or even in full size blenders. Let’s look further into what an immersion blender is, how it works, and some of the ways you can use it.

The immersion blender is essentially the blade and motor portion of a blender. The layout of the immersion mini blender is a hand-held motored segment (usually long and round) with a cord on one end (attaching to the power outlet) and a metal pole on the other, with blades at the end.

The difference is, instead of pouring your food into a container that has the blades attached at the bottom, with this blender, you actually insert the blade from the top into the container the food is already it. You literally immerse the blender in that food (hence its name, ‘immersion’ blender).

This is particularly ideal for things like soups and sauces, for several reasons. For one, this makes it possible to slightly thicken the soup, without pureeing it all the way. Simply insert the blender into your pot of soup, choose a power setting or speed, and blend until the chunks are broken down to your desired consistency. You can blend just a little bit, or almost puree the soup; it is up to you.

The second reason the immersion style of hand held mini blender is ideal is because it makes it much easier to work with hot foods. Transferring a hot soup or sauce into a stand blender is not only a pain, but with very hot foods can be dangerous.

An immersion-style mini blender keeps it simple, letting you smooth out your food without transferring it to (and dirtying) an additional container. The blender itself is also very easy to clean (it’s just the blade and pole attachment that’s dirtied), and it also takes up a fraction of the room so is very easy to store and access.
