The Difference Between a Log Holder and an Outdoor Firewood Rack

Depending on what you are looking for when it comes to storing your firewood, you will either need a log holder or an outdoor firewood rack. As the cold season begins to approach there is much talk about making arrangements for lighting up the fire on those snowy, chilly days. With that being said, if you have firewood you need to be able to have a place to store it.

The difference between log holders and an outdoor firewood rack is the fact that log holders are primarily used for indoors. The usually hold a limited amount of wood and therefore are not as big as a rack that will be outdoors. Log holders come in different colors, sizes, and shapes and tend to be much smaller than what an outdoor firewood rack will be. They also come in different designs for you to choose from according to your taste, color of the home, and preference.

Outdoor firewood racks on the other hand, are exactly what it means, for the outdoors. Although some people do use them indoors, they are typically used outdoors because of their size. These also come in different sizes depending on the size of wood that you will have and they are also available in a variety of materials, from wood, to iron for more durability.

Depending on how much wood you expect to have during the colder season, you can make a decision on whether to purchase an indoor log holder or an outdoor firewood rack. But please remember that in order for you to have a quality fire, your firewood must be dry. This is why it is important to store your wood. It will keep it away from any insects and termites that may destroy the wood and it will also keep it dry and away from getting moist, filled with mold and mildew. This is really important when creating your fire, since if your firewood is not the way it should be (dry and bug-free) it will not heat well enough o burn properly and will cause a bad, unwanted smoke.
